Sydney’s train network has again been hit by service disruptions with trains not running on a number of lines due to urgent signal repairs.
The widespread delays and cancellations have prompted Transport for NSW to warn passengers to seek other arrangements, particularly for anyone travelling to the Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles NRL game at Olympic Park.
Lines affected include the T1 (western line), T2 (inner west and Leppington line), T3 (Bankstown line), T5 (Cumberland line), T8 (airport line) and T9 (northern line) due to urgent signal repairs at Homebush.
There are flow-on effects throughout the network with screens going blank at Milsons Point and Central stations.
Passengers voiced frustration on social media over the rail network problems.

Later on Saturday night, Transport for NSW said trains were running again between Lidcombe and Ashfield on the T1 Western and T2 Inner West & Leppington Lines.
“Trains are also running again between Rhodes and Ashfield on the T9 Northern Line.”
“Passengers are still advised to allow plenty of extra travel time, listen to announcements, and check information displays for service updates as stopping patterns may change.”
Repeated train outages across the Sydney network put pressure on the Coalition ahead of the election.
In early March, the entire rail network ground to a halt due to a communications system fault for a weekday afternoon forcing commuters to make their own way home.
