A man with links to the notorious Brothers 4 Life gang has pleaded not guilty to the shooting murder of a man in western Sydney.
Mohammad Eimal Zarshoy, 30, is accused of murdering Robert Atkinson at Wentworthville on June 29, 2020.
He was formally arraigned in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday after a failed bid at another delay in the proceeding.
Defence lawyer Mohammed Masri asked Justice Robert Allan Hulme if he could adjourn the matter as he had been unable to speak with his client in person.
But Justice Hulme said the matter dated back almost two years and that there had already been delays in the past.
He asked when Mr Masri had last spoken to his client.
"This morning," Mr Masri said.
"It's out of my hands at this stage."
"I think his plea would have been well and truly discussed by now," Justice Hulme said.
Zarshoy pleaded not guilty to another charge of discharging a firearm intending to cause grievous bodily harm.
A tentative trial date was fixed on March 20, 2023.
