Sydney FC told Rangers to "mind the gap" as Celtic fans raved about them during their friendly Down Under.
The Aussie side picked up a surprise 2-1 win over Ange Postecoglou' s Premiership leaders, coming from behind to pick up the victory after Alexandro Bernabei's strike deflected in off Kyogo. And while Celtic fans weren't too concerned with the result after going nine points clear at the top of the league before the break, many were impressed with what they saw from the Australians.
The visitors dominated for long spells with home keeper Thomas Heward-Belle impressive but Sydney hit the bar twice in the first half before their equaliser. The way they passed through the Celtic press also caught the eye and one fan suggested their performance rated them as better than every Scottish side - apart from themselves. That may be jumping to conclusions off the back of one friendly but Sydney's social media team were quick to jump on it. They tweeted in response: "Mind the gap @RangersFC."
Celtic face Everton in the next Sydney Super Cup clash on Sunday while Sydney FC's city rivals, Western Sydney Wanderers, will face the Toffees three days later. The Hoops will then take a short mid-season break before returning to prepare for the Premiership restart after the World Cup, when they travel to Aberdeen on December 17.
