Sydney FC Signs Former Juventus Star Douglas Costa As Marquee Player

Sydney FC has made a significant signing by securing former Juventus and Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa for the A-League Men. Costa, released early from his contract by Brazilian Serie A club Fluminense in July, joins Sydney FC as a marquee player for two seasons. The 33-year-old winger's arrival marks a major acquisition for the A-League, reminiscent of the signing of Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero in 2012.

Costa, with over 13 million social media followers worldwide, is expected to bring attention to the A-League, which recently saw a reduction in club distribution funds. With a career spanning 16 years and total transfer fees close to $140 million, Costa's resume includes five trophies with Juventus, six titles with Bayern Munich, and 11 cups with Shakhtar Donetsk. He has also represented Brazil in international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and Copa America.
