Swimmers started to feel seriously ill after being exposed to "chemical fumes" at a gym's infinity pool.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call from gym-goers at Athelis Club & Spa, off Charon Way in Warrington, at around 3pm on Thursday, September 1 after a number of swimmers started falling ill. Once three fire engines arrived at the scene, they found 11 people were struggling to breath and staff told members to leave the building due to suspected chlorine leak.
The North West Ambulance Service were called to the £85 a month gym to assess and treat people who were inside. All staff and members were accounted for during the incident.

Nine people were assessed by the ambulance service and two of which were rushed to Warrington Hospital. Their condition is described as "minor".
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said it believes the incident is related to treatment of water in the pool.
A spokesperson said: "Crews were called after reports of a number of people becoming unwell as a result of exposure to chemical fumes in the swimming pool area. Wearing protective equipment as a precaution, they assisted staff in the evacuation of members.
"All staff and members were accounted for during the incident. Crews left the scene at 6.15pm after ensuring the building was safe to return to. The cause is believed to be related to treatment of water in the pool."
A spokesperson from Athelis Club & Spa said: "Following a technical issue with our rooftop infinity spa this afternoon, we followed our standard health and safety procedures and closed access to the spa to carry out necessary checks and repairs. We expect to return to normal operations and re-open by 6am on Friday.”
