Taylor Swift fans have been left in shock after Karlie Kloss was spotted at the Eras Tour, on the final night in LA on Wednesday. This comes years after their friendship reportedly ended.
The ex-BFFs had a six-year friendship from 2012 to 2019, and were also followed around by rumours of a secret lesbian relationship back in 2014 (which they denied).
Their friendship began with Swift’s 2012 Vogue cover interview. After spotting a photo of Kloss, Swift said: “I love Karlie Kloss. I want to bake cookies with her!”
Kloss read the piece and tweeted, “Hey @taylorswift13 love the @voguemagazine cover! Your kitchen or mine? :)” And the rest was history.

In November 2013, they strutted alongside each other for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, where Kloss walked the runway and Swift performed.
And in between bestie road trips, attending the pre-Oscars party together, exploring New York City, and grabbing lunch at Sarabeth’s in Tribeca, it was clear that the pair were like two peas in a pod.
They even appeared on the cover of Vogue together in February 2015. In response to stories about their friendship, Swift said, “People had been telling us for years we needed to meet. I remember makeup artists and hair people going, ‘Doesn’t she remind you of Karlie? God, she and Karlie would be best friends. They’re the same.’”
Kloss also appeared in Swift’s music video for Bad Blood, alongside other celebrities.
But cracks started to show in December 2017, when Kloss posted a birthday message for Swift on Instagram with much less enthusiasm than she did for Swift the previous year, simply writing: “Happy happy birthday @taylorswift!”.
Kloss also made reference to Katy Perry’s rumored Swift diss track, Swish, Swish, and then reportedly went for dinner in LA with Perry, Derek Blasberg, and jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer.
It might have been the nail in the coffin when Kloss married businessman Joshua Kushner across two wedding ceremonies in 2018 (both of which Swift failed to attend), and the guest list included Katy Perry and Kloss’s manager Scooter Braun, whom Swift is said to have rifts with.
A month prior, it was revealed that Braun had purchased Taylor Swift’s original label Big Machine Label Group from then-owner Scott Borchetta for $330 million (£260 m) via his Ithaca Holdings company.
Swift reacted to the news in a blog post saying that for years she pleaded for a chance to own her work but was only given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and “earn” one album back at a time, “one for every new one I turned in”.
So Swifties were perhaps right to be surprised when Kloss popped up in the audience for Taylor Swift’s final LA Eras tour show, albeit it in normal seats rather than Swift’s VIP section.
Fans reacted, many poking fun at the seats Kloss was in: “Retweet if you had better seats to the eras tour than Karlie Kloss has,” one tweet read.
There are more theories that some of Swift’s music is inspired by Kloss. In the song It’s Time To Go, from Evermore, Swift sings: “When the words of a sister, come back in whispers, that prove she was not, in fact, what she seemed/Not a twin from your dreams, she’s a crook who was caught.” Some fans believe that line is a reference to falling out with a friend and many have assumed it’s Kloss.
Another fan made a joke about some of the songs being about Kloss.
