Sweden's centre-left win election as right wing bloc suffers narrow defeat

Sweden's bloc of centre-left parties has won a parliamentary majority in the tightly contested general election.

The alliance is led by Magdalena Andersson and her party, the Social Democrats. It also includes the Left Party, Greens and the Centre Party. They now hold a three-seat majority in the 349-seat Riksdag (Sweden's parliament) over outgoing prime minister Ulf Kristersson's right-wing alliance.
