The Sweden World Cup 2026 squad has been decided, following the nation's successful March qualification.
Blagult made history with their World Cup 2026 qualification, managing to make the tournament without actually winning a single game in their group – which Switzerland eventually won.
But after qualifying through the Nations League to make March's play-offs, the Swedish take their place among 48 tournament squads – and are the second nation to announce their final 26 players after Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Regardless of qualification form, any team with this firepower will be a threat, with manager Graham Potter boasting Liverpool's Alexander Isak and Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres in the same frontline, with the likes of Anthony Elanga, Yasin Ayari and Lucas Bergvall familiar faces to Premier League fans, too.
Not all of their biggest stars have made it, however: Tottenham Hotspur's Dejan Kulusevski hasn't made an appearance all season due to injury and will miss out on this tournament as a result.
This will be the first time that the Swedish national side have been to the World Cup since 2018: on that occasion, they rejected the advances of Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who reversed his decision to come out of retirement and play in Russia – and bucked expectations to reach the quarter-finals, where Gareth Southgate's England eventually knocked them out.
The last time that Sweden went to a World Cup with an English manager, they went all the way to the final: OK, that was in 1958 under George Raynor, but some back home will be hoping for a few more surprises from the Scandinavians along the way this time around, too.

Manager
Who is Sweden's manager?

Graham Potter is widely known for his managerial success with Brighton, where he led the club to its record top-flight points tally during his first season at the helm.
The Englishman went on to equal this record the following year, then broke it again in his third season with 51 points and a ninth-placed Premier League finish for the Seagulls.
Potter went on to manage Chelsea for 31 games in what many labelled a failure, followed by a similarly short stint with West Ham, before taking the Sweden job in October 2025.
Sweden's Star Player
Who is Sweden's star player?

Viktor Gyokeres is yet to hit the staggering heights of his 2024/25 season with Sporting, but with his new team sat atop the Premier League, it’s hard to imagine him caring.
The 27-year-old, who ranked 13th in FourFourTwo’s list of the best strikers in the world, is Arsenal’s top goalscorer domestically and their second-highest goalscorer in Europe.
Despite his underwhelming performances in Sweden’s World Cup qualification games, failing to score in all four of his matches, the striker is sure to be the difference-maker if his nation wants to secure a place in this summer’s tournament.
