A car park which has been closed to the public for many years in Swansea Marina is set to re-open. Pau Square car park provides parking for marina residents but has been closed to the general public because of anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
The council has now confirmed plans to re-open one floor of the multi-storey facility on a trial basis from Monday, May 29. Andrew Stevens, cabinet member for environment and infrastructure, said: “Increasing car parking provision in the city centre is always something we look to consider where possible.
“The marina is a well visited attraction in Swansea and parking is something we have been looking at for some time. We have been talking with marina residents and listening to their concerns about car parking as well as proposals to re-open this car park.
“The facility has suffered in recent years from vandalism and anti-social behaviour. Along with these issues, there are significant improvements required to enable the car park to re-open fully. A recent visit and inspection has given us the opportunity to consider a trial re-opening of the first floor to the general public.” You can get more Swansea news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.
