Data specialist leaves club for Forest
Data scientist Dan Morris has left Swansea for a new position with Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest.
Morris had been with Swansea for five years but leaves for a new challenge with Steve Cooper's Reds.
Writing on LinkedIn, he said: "After an incredible five years at Swansea City, I’m happy to share that I have recently started a new position as Head of Data Insights at Nottingham Forest. Exciting times ahead.
“Thanks to everyone who supported me and I had the pleasure of working alongside during my time at Swansea. Never easy leaving the club you love, but the time was right for a new challenge.”
Morris was primarily involved with the data analysis process at the Swansea.com Stadium and will now fulfil a similar role at the City Ground, where he will link up with Cooper and coach Alan Tate on the banks of the Trent.
Swans linked with coach appointment
Swansea and Championship rivals Sunderland have been linked with former Dundee United coach Adam Asghar.
The 28-year-old has reportedly held talks with both clubs over a coaching position, with his specialism in player development highly regarded in the game.
He left his role at Dundee earlier this month by mutual consent. Asghar holds a UEFA Elite Youth A coaching licence.
Martin addresses Oba boos
Russell Martin says Michael Obafemi still has a big part to play for the club this season.
The striker was introduced from the bench yesterday to a smattering of boos from the home crowd following the events of deadline day where he was linked with an exit from the club. Burnley were the admirers.
He was left out matchday squads until he was deemed ready to return, and made his comeback against the Tigers on Saturday. Martin addressed the reception the forard got in his post-match press conference.
"It [crowd reaction] was mixed, some were really warm, a couple of people booing. People make what they want of the situation," said Martin.
"They just want people to come on and work as hard as possible. He did that when he came on and he's done that this week in training. That's all we want from him.
"Hopefully he'll go away with Ireland and do well with them and he'll come back as the Michael we know and love.
"He'll be a big part for us, for sure. He's got some real competition at the minute with Joel Piroe doing what he does. The competition is great for us."
Cundle gives defence credit
Luke Cundle says he is loving life at Swansea after grabbing his first goal for the club.
The Wolves loanee scored the second in a commanding performance against Hull on Saturday, and the midfielder says the thanks should go to the men at the back for building a solid platform on which the attackers could capitalise on.
"Obviously it's a great feeling scoring at home, my first proper run-out," he said. "I thought the lads started at the back today, the way they build up from the back and kept the ball and controlled the game, it helped us a lot, the boys going forward."
In terms of settling in, the youngster couldn't be happier.
"All the lads are great," he added. "The gaffer is great, the staff are great, I am really enjoying it.
"Three points gives us a good boost. Probably the last few games we haven't got the points we deserved we feel, hopefully we can kick on now and move up the table.
"It was coming. The lads have been playing well and we were due to win comfortably.
"I don't really set targets for myself in that sort of way but what I do do is when I go on the pitch I need to perform and I just do my best and if goals come like today then that's just a bonus."
