Here are your Swansea City headlines for Sunday, July 10.
Swans 'pricing Piroe out of move'
Swansea City's £20m valuation of star striker Joel Piroe is proving prohibitive to him sealing a dream move to the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.
The forward was a standout for Russell Martin's side last year, smashing in 24 goals in all competitions after the Swans signed him for just £1m from PSV 12 months ago.
It's clear that, at 22, he is Swansea's biggest and most sellable asset. However, after Flynn Downes' move to West Ham there is little pressure to move the Dutchman on to balance the books.
It gives Swansea the luxury of slapping a big price on Piroe's head, knowing that any bid that comes in for that much will be simply too good to turn down.
Premier League outfit Leicester City, Championship side Watford and sides across Europe have all been credited with interest this summer after Piroe's breakthrough season in SA1.
The Mail claim Piroe's 'hefty price tag has become a major stumbling block towards the 22-year-old's chances of playing top-flight football next season.'
Reading want Fulton
Championship side Reading are interested in signing Jay Fulton, according to The Sun's Alan Nixon.
It is thought that the midfielder is free to leave this summer and it is claimed that the Royals, whose midfield has been decimated this summer, are keen on bringing him in.
Fulton actually started in Swansea's pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, which you can read more about here.
Now Downes has left the club, it remains to be seen what Fulton's future has in store, although it would be no great surprise if he was to leave. And it looks like the Royals are now interested parties.
Garrick and Paterson absences explained
Swansea were without Jordon Garrick and Jamie Paterson for the win over Forest Green on Saturday.
However, Russell Martin allayed any fears there was anything sinister at play, revealing the two were absent due to minor niggles.
"They’ve all had a big three weeks of training and both are carrying little niggles, nothing too heavy but you weigh it up and assess it,” added Martin.
“We have a few more games coming up where they can get minutes, so the decision was made by us and the sports science and medical teams just to give them the day off today and I’m sure they’ll both be back next week at some point.”
The Swans face a trip to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening and Martin is looking forward to another test for his side.
“I think it will be great, I think we’re all looking forward to it,” said Martin. “It’s really important for a number of reasons, we’ll be travelling and getting used to that again, being in a hotel and looking how to utilise the time for the players in the best way for the players to be ready for the game.
“We’re looking forward to seeing some of our supporters and it will be another really tough game.
U21s beat Trefelin
Swansea's under-21s started their pre-season with a 5-0 win over Cymru South outfit Trefelin BGC.
Lincoln Mcfayden was the star of the show for the Swans as he hit the back of the net twice in the first half, while Joe Thomas, Azeem Abdulai and Josh Thomas all find themselves on the scoresheet, too.
