Swansea City transfer news as new MK Dons player on radar, Chelsea 'join race' for target and ex-coach gets top job

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City headlines for Tuesday, June 14.

Swans linked with Watson

Swansea City are reportedly among several clubs monitoring MK Dons right-back Tennai Watson.

According to Football League World, the Swans are monitoring the 25-year-old's situation this summer, while Bristol City and Preston North End are also believed to be keen.

Russell Martin brought Watson to MK last summer following a successful trial, and was clearly impressed by the player, stating shortly before the move was confirmed: "We've had Tennai Watson training with us, he's been impressive in the games and in training. I'd like him to stay and I think he'd like to stay so we're hoping to get something done there at some point. He's a really good player."

Watson is the latest former MK star to be linked with a reunion. Matthew Sorinola is another player believed to be on the radar, while sources have also indicated that Tottenham forward Troy Parrott is a player that could be of interest this summer.

Chelsea 'join race for Darling'

Football League World has also claimed that Premier League giants Chelsea are monitoring MK Dons centre-back Harry Darling.

The report claims the Blues could well face competition from top flight rivals Brighton and Hove Albion, as well as Norwich City.

Swans boss Martin has been an admirer for some time, and Darling himself is understood to be open to working with the head coach once again.

However, it's clear the Swans would need to shake off some considerable competition if they were to land the ball-playing defender.

Swansea have already brought a new centre-back on board in this window, having recently confirmed a move for Nathan Wood from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee. For the latest transfer news, sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

Luke Williams unveiled as Notts Co boss

Notts County have confirmed Luke Williams as their new head coach.

Williams was previously assistant head coach to Martin at Swansea, before leaving south Wales in February for personal reasons.

Confirming the news, the club said in a statement: “We’re delighted that Luke and Ryan have joined us as our new head coach and assistant head coach.

“Between them they have the right management skills and experience of all EFL divisions, as well as the National League, which we believe will help us achieve our goal of promotion and getting back to where we feel we belong.

“Luke's values and playing principles are aligned with our own and we feel the continuity and consistency this brings will be a huge factor in ensuring a smooth transition to his leadership.

“We have been very impressed not only with Luke’s general character, but also his excitement about this opportunity and his fierce determination to succeed.

“He fully understands the pressure and expectation that comes with this role and we can see he’s ready to take on the challenge.

“Luke has already met with our recruitment team to discuss our current squad and ongoing transfer targets and we look forward to working closely with him to build a team which will give us the best possible chance of earning the promotion we all crave in 2022-23.”

Matthew Gill is currently poised to continue as Martin's assistant next season, while Colin Calderwood is also poised to join the backroom team ahead of the new campaign.

Obafemi out of Ireland clash

Swansea City striker Michael Obafemi has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland squad to play Ukraine on Tuesday evening.

The striker's chances of shaking off a groin injury were rated as unlikely by boss Stephen Kenny, and it now seems he will play no part in his side's UEFA Nations League clash.

Obafemi could well be replaced in the side by Chiedozie Ogbene, who's coincidentally been linked with a move to the Swans this summer.
