Swansea City transfer news as Fenerbahce star linked, midfielder heading north and swap deal explored

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Monday, June 20.

Swans linked with Greek star

Reports in Turkey claim Swansea City are one of two Championship teams tracking Greek midfielder Dimitrios Pelkas.

The Fenerbahce star, 28, has a year left on his contract with the Super Lig club, with FotoMac reporting Swans and QPR have "knocked on the door" for his services.

The same publication state the Turkish giants would be willing to listen to offers.

Pelkas has been with the club for the past two seasons and scored 13 goals in a total of 66 matches, making eight assists in the process.

He can work as a winger or in the number 10 position and has been capped 26 times for Greece. After making three defensive additions so far this summer, Martin may now be casting his eye further up the field.

Swans 'upping interest' in Harness amid swap claims

Swansea are reportedly ready to step up their interest in Portsmouth winger Marcus Harness - and could even throw in one of their out-of-favour stars as a potential sweetener.

According to The News, the possibility of a player swap has already been explored, although Pompey are believed to be keen on recouping the £750,000 paid out for the 26-year-old back in 2019.

The club has already activated the option of extending his deal by another 12 months to prevent him from moving on for free, but it seems increasingly likely he will move on this summer, and there are a couple of players who would potentially be of interest to Pompey boss Danny Cowley should a swap deal become more of a possibility.

Morgan Whittaker and Kyle Joseph are both admired by the Pompey boss, and could well be made available by Russell Martin.

Liam Cullen is another to have recently been linked.

Dhanda closing in on Ross County move

Former Swan Yan Dhanda is reportedly set to sign for Ross County.

According to Sky Sports, the 23-year-old was due to fly up to Inverness to complete the deal, having left the Swans on a free transfer earlier this summer.

Dhanda is believed to have received a number of offers from the Championship and abroad, but is thought to be interested by the chance to play under former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay.

His decision follows on from several positive discussions between the two parties, with the former Liverpool starlet seemingly intrigued by the project Mackay is looking to implement at Dingwall.

Swans arrive for training camp

Martin believes Pennyhill Park gives Swansea City the best possible environment to kick off their pre-season preparations.

The Swans are once again set to spend a week at the site in Surrey, where they spent time preparing last summer under predecessor Steve Cooper, and Martin says the squad have once again been left impressed by the facilities on offer.

“It’s a great setting and I think it is really important because the players gave us some brilliant feedback after being here last season,” he said.

“When we were discussing our plans for pre-season with the players, who are the most important people to consider in these things, they were really keen to avoid travelling abroad because of the time it takes, and any other potential issues.

“They kept coming back to how good they had found things here last summer, they really enjoyed the facilities and the surroundings.

“It’s got fantastic pitches, gym facilities and recovery settings and it is exactly what we need.

“England Rugby have obviously used it for a number of years which tells you the standard of facilities we are dealing with, and it’s a great chance for us all to be together, to focus on our work without distractions.

“We are looking forward to getting down to work.”
