No change on transfers
Matt Gill admits "nothing has changed" regarding Swansea's frustrating transfer situation.
The Swans have recruited Harry Darling, Nathan Wood, Joe Allen and Matty Sorinola but remain eager to further add to their squad. However, with little more than a fortnight to go until deadline day, they still find themselves in the position of wanting to offload fringe players.
But Swansea's assistant head coach was unable to give fans a positive update when asked if there was any news regarding potential incomings. "Not currently. I’ll be on repeat like the manager. Nothing has changed," said Gill ahead of the Millwall game.
Kyle Joseph, Morgan Whittaker and Jordon Garrick have all left on loan in recent weeks, and it appears unlikely that Swansea will be able to spend any more cash this summer unless there are player sales.
The transfer window closes at 11pm on Thursday, September 1.
Pundit praises Swans' final third improvement
Jamie Mackie praised Swansea for taking more risks in the final third during their win at Blackpool.
The Swans dominated the first-half and - despite a more even second-half at Bloomfield Road - clinched all three points courtesy of Olivier Ntcham's first goal of the campaign.
Victory gave the Jack Army a huge lift following three matches without a win at the start of the season. And Mackie went on to praise Michael Obafemi for his pivotal role in Swansea's winner against Michael Appleton's men.
"I think very dominant, in the first-half particularly. That build-up play to get into, to get into the final third was the same," Mackie said on ITV's highlights show.
"What Russell Martin has worked on this week, when you get into that final third where they can be so dominant, just throw a few more bodies in with the ball in the box. Take a little bit more risk in the final third and it paid off in the end for them.
"Obafemi with a great breakaway. He missed a glorious chance on the opening weekend [at Rotherham] but made a great decision here to tee up Ntcham and he finishes in a really good win for Russell Martin's side."
Fisher's work pays off
Matt Gill believes Andy Fisher's hard work at Swansea was fully rewarded on Saturday as he produced a man-of-the-match display at Blackpool.
The goalkeeper produced two fine saves to deny Josh Bowler in Lancashire while he also kept out Jerry Yates' penalty early on in the second-half of the 1-0 win.
And Gill could not hide his delight with the former MK Dons goalkeeper's efforts - with the assistant head coach revealed the 24-year-old had a significant entourage watching him from the stands.
"I was really pleased for Fish, he was outstanding on Saturday," said Gill. "He’s shown immense improvements since he’s come in.
"He needed 18 tickets for the weekend so it was good for him to put on a show, perhaps we should get his family down for every game.
"But no really pleased, great save from the penalty and a couple more in the game but that’s the hard work that he puts in day in and day out."
Away improvement needed - Rowett
Gary Rowett admits his Millwall side need to replicate their impressive home form when they play on the road this season.
The Lions have beaten both Coventry City and Stoke City at The Den this season but have lost both of their away fixtures against Sheffield United and Cambridge United ahead of Tuesday's trip to Swansea.
And Rowett admits his side are facing a pivotal week on their travels as they head to Norwich City just three days after facing Russell Martin's side.
"Most teams find it a bit difficult to create good away form, but we’ve got the squad to do that this year," he said, as quoted by London News Online. "We’ve got that resilience. We’ve got that mentality to go away from home and run and chase out those performances. Now we have to go and show it, don’t we?
“We’ve got two tough ones coming up. I don’t think the team can be judged until 10 away games. Swansea away and Norwich away are both challenging games, let alone on a Tuesday night and a Friday night, but we will certainly go to those games with a thin squad but with a little more confidence after the final 70 minutes of today’s game [against Coventry].”
