Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City headlines for Monday, October 3.
Martin's rallying cry for youngsters
Swansea City head coach Russell Martin has urged his young stars to take note of Matty Sorinola's sparkling showing at West Bromwich Albion, and use it to fuel their own first-team ambitions.
Martin said the wing-back's showing was arguably his finest so far in a Swans shirt, with the 21-year-old netting the opening goal of a hard-fought 3-2 win at the Hawthorns.
“Matty was great, I thought that was his best game for this club so far,” said Martin. “He was so reliable defensively against a player who is a really top talent in Grady Diangana.
“Matty looked a real threat, and he just needs to belief in himself as much as we do. He is a guy who is finding his feet at this level. We have a lot of young players who have not played many games at this level.
“They all need to start believing in themselves, and the biggest challenge for us as a coaching staff is to help them have that belief in themselves. They believe in what we are doing, and they believe and trust in their team-mates and the staff.
“Now it’s about having that belief, because if you are going to compete at the top end it’s about real belief. A great trait in any player is a total confidence in yourself.
“I played with a number of players – and I would include myself in this - who should never have played at the level they did, but they had such belief in what they could and what they could bring.
“I think a game like this will certainly help our guys with that.”
Sorinola demands more
Sorinola himself has urged Swansea to use the 3-2 win over the Baggies as a springboard to kickstart the rest of their season.
“I feel like recently we’ve been showing a lot of character,” he said. “West Brom isn’t an easy place to come to, especially when you go 2-1 behind, so to then come back and win 3-2 showed character.
“Everyone played their part and really dug in and we know how important that is because everyone has a role to play.
“I feel like the performances have been there since the start of the season, it’s just been about turning those into wins, but I feel like we’ve started to do that.
“Now we can move on and we just need to carry on building on this."
Carvalhal favourite for Tigers job
Former Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal has been installed as odds on favourite to take over at Hull City.
The Tigers are looking for a new boss after sacking Shota Arveladze, and the bookies appear increasingly certain that the Portuguese coach will be the man to get the job.
Carvalhal joined Swansea at the end of 2017 but left the club in May 2018 after their relegation from the Premier League.
He signed a one-year deal with Al Wahda FC in the UAE Pro League in the summer, but reports in United Arab Emirates suggest he's decided to leave his position after just four games.
Odds in full:
Carlos Carvalhal 1/5
Sergen Yalçın 9/2
Carlos Corberan 12/1
Ersun Yanal 16/1
Liam Rosenior 16/1
Rob Edwards 16/1
Scott Parker 16/1
