Piroe to miss derby clash
Joel Piroe will serve a three-match ban after Swansea City decided not to appeal his red card in the defeat to Burnley.
The Dutchman was dismissed after 74 minutes as the Swans slipped to a 4-0 defeat at Turf Moor after being penalised for an apparent stamp on Josh Cullen, with Russell Martin insisting after the game he was 'surprised' by the decision.
However, the club have now decided not to appeal, meaning Piroe will miss Tuesday night's trip to Queens Park Rangers, as well as the South Wales derby with Cardiff City on Sunday, and the trip to Bristol City on Saturday, October 29.
Gill - We're ready to respond
Assistant boss Matt Gill has backed Swansea City to muster up positive response when they face Reading on Tuesday night.
Saturday's defeat hammering at the hands of Burnley brought an end to an impressive run of four straight wins, and Gill believes Russell Martin's side are capable of picking up their form once again.
“I think the players have shown the character they have and the ability to respond, and that’s part of the way we work as a group. We will always go about the week the same whatever the result has been,” he said.
“I think that helps when you go through tough moments. We never got too high when we were winning games, and we will not get too low after defeats.
“It is important we remain consistent as staff and that the players remain consistent because it allows us to call back upon the stuff we have worked on and done well in recent weeks.
“I am sure that consistency will stand us in good stead as we face Reading.
“They have had a brilliant start, and I think most people would say they have had a brilliant start.
“I think that puts our own start in perspective because we are only a point behind them.
“It will be a tough challenge and one we are looking forward to as we look to bounce back from Saturday."
Sinclair joins Bristol Rovers
Former Swansea City striker Scott Sinclair has completed a return to Bristol Rovers.
The 33-year-old, who will wear the number 7 shirt, has returned after 18 years away, and has signed a short-term deal with the Gas.
Speaking after completing his move, he said: "I'm delighted to back at the place where my career began. I've been training for a couple of weeks and The Quarters is certainly very different to where we trained when I was younger! I've always wanted to come back to the club to give back what they've given me at the start of my footballing journey."
Rovers boss Joey Barton added: "We are delighted to have brought Scott into the group. He has been training with us for a couple of weeks now. We're enjoying having him in with us. He's a fit lad, his experience and quality is superb and he will strengthen us further as we move into these winter months."
Grey - Youngsters got what they deserved
Coach Jon Grey says Swansea City under-21s finally got the result their recent performances deserved, after watching them overcome Charlton Athletic 3-2 in the Professional Development League.
An eventful game at Landore saw Tarelle Whittaker cancel out Daniel Kanu's 11th-minute opener for the visitors.
Charlton then took the lead five minutes into the second half through Harvey Kedwell, but the young Swans came back again, and levelled through Joel Cotterill’s deflected effort.
Substitute Ben Lloyd’s strike then took all three points for the hosts, much to the delight of Grey, who believes his side's performances have deserved more in terms of points.
"We went into today's game with a little bit of emphasis on trying to get a win. We've dominated matches in recent weeks and have come away with one win, but we want more and today we got the result we deserved,” he said.
"I think we did particularly well today and, as I said, the emphasis was to get a win and we did that today."
