Sven Botman admits he will keep his feet on the ground after securing his £35million move to Newcastle United.
The Magpies' latest summer recruit is keen to hit the ground running and will link up with his new team-mates on Wednesday after being granted an extra few days off due to international commitments with Holland Under-21s. The deal was completed in time for Botman to play a big part in pre-season and he could make his debut on the club's tour of Austria.
Botman, speaking to De Telegraaf, was asked about his price tag and said: "I don’t and I actually don’t want to think of that. This is how the world of football and the transfer market are developing. "I am still the down-to-earth kid from Badhoevedorp."

When asked about Newcastle's summer pursuit, which saw them outbid AC Milan, Botman added: "It just shows how keen Newcastle United were to capture my signature. It has boosted my confidence and it’s up to me now to repay that trust."
Botman enjoyed a warm Geordie welcome last week when he completed the formalities of his transfer from Lille. And on Friday night the deal was officially declared by United.
The centre-back admits that his newfound popularity with fans may take some time to get used to. He said: "Straight after arrival, I noticed that everything in England is all about football. I may not be the best-known player but fans recognised me in the street and started a chat with me. And fans were waiting in the stadium and the training ground, where I was to undergo a medical. "I must admit it will take some time to get used to that."
