Sven Botman has explained his preferred position as he prepares to make his Newcastle United debut at St James' Park.
The £34million Dutchman will play against Atalanta or Athletic Bilbao this weekend as Newcastle edge closer to their opener against Nottingham Forest. Botman has been one of the star players in pre-season and has justified the hype around him so far.
The big question is who he partners in the heart of the defence out of Dan Burn, Fabian Schar or Jamaal Lascelles. Burn and Botman are predominantly left-footed while Lascelles and Schar are right-footed.

But Botman said: "Well, I like the left side more. " actually played for three or four years not on the right side, so it will be a little bit uncomfortable (to play on the right).
"The game against 1860 Munich in pre-season, I was looking left, right. It was a little bit strange.
"People think the centre-back left or right is totally the same position, but totally different. It’s the same with left-back or right-back. It’s not the same.
"I prefer the left, but I will play where the coach needs me."
