South Australian police say a suspicious chemical spill at a Riverland post office last week is linked to a series of drug raids.
More than 100 allegedly drug-related exhibits were seized in the region on Tuesday following searches of properties at Waikerie, Barmera and Taylorville, police said.
A 48-year-old Waikerie man and a 41-year-old Torrensville man were arrested and charged with the importation of marketable quantities of controlled precursors.
Both men were remanded in custody to face court at a later date.
Police said five other people reported for various drug-related offences, including the alleged hydroponic cultivation of cannabis, would be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Eight cannabis expiation notices and six drug diversion notices for methamphetamine and related equipment were also issued as part of the raids, police said.
Superintendent Scott Denny said the suspicious chemical was believed to have been in a parcel and there was no risk to members of the public at the time.
"Thankfully no-one was injured . . . and there is no further risk," he said.
Police would allege the substance was imported for illegal drug manufacturing, he said.
