Suspicious car found burnt out after woman, 53, shot dead

A car linked to the murder of a woman who was shot dead has been found burnt out.

The 53-year-old woman was found dead in a house on Meadowbrook Road, Moreton, at around 1.45am on Sunday, October 30. Paramedics attended the property but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a gunshot wound to her chest.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said: "This is clearly a very shocking and upsetting incident and are thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died. At this stage we are treating this as a targeted incident and a number of lines of enquiry are being carried out.

"We are keen to trace the occupants of the vehicle as we believe they may have information which is vital to our investigation. I would ask anyone who saw the vehicle in the area or thinks they captured it on dash cam, CCTV or mobile phone to contact us as a matter of urgency."

Man, 50, stabbed to death as woman arrested on suspicion of murder

A man has been stabbed to death in a house in Litherland.

Merseyside Police were called to reports that a 50-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest in a house on Bridge Road. The victim was taken to hospital with a life-threatening injury at around 4.45am on Sunday, October 30 but died later that day.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Caton said: "This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. An investigation is now underway, which is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has happened which has led to this tragic incident.”

'Little gem' of restaurant on Lark Lane announces closure and locals are 'gutted'

An Italian restaurant on Lark Lane has announced its closure.

The restaurant, Mani, opened on Lark Lane in 2021. However, despite only opening a year ago, the owners have now shared the news of their closure.

Mani said: "We are very sad to announce the closure of our beautiful Italian restaurant! Mani will be closing its doors on the 30.10.22! We hope to see a lot of new and old faces before this date. All our love Mani."
