Two people have been charged with stealing a statue of a fairy from Prescot’s Shakespeare North Playhouse.
Steven Larkin and Catherine Taylor are alleged to have taken the statue from outside the theatre, which was only recently completed, on the evening of August 26. Police later arrested Larkin, 45 of Chapel Road in Anfield, and Taylor, 48 of Primrose Drive in Huyton, and they were charged with theft.
According to court documents, the statue they stole depicted a fairy and was made of pewter, having an estimated value of £2,275.

Merseyside Police said the pair both appeared before magistrates this morning and were remanded into custody.
The Shakespeare North Theatre opened back in July after a £38m construction project lasting years. Prescot was chosen as the location for the theatre because during the 16th and 17th centuries it hosted one of the few freestanding theatres in the country outside London.
The theatre itself, constructed in timber according to a traditional 17th Century style, is expected to draw 140,000 people a year to Prescot and contribute significantly towards the town’s economic development. In addition to the theatre, there are also a range of other amenities in the building, including a learning centre, a cafe, a shop and waiting rooms.
