Suspected thieves arrested after returning to same house where car was taken

A man and a 15-year-old teenager have been arrested following a vehicle theft in Oldham.

Police were called to Glenmore Drive in Failsworth at around 3am this morning (February 17) following reports that a car had been stolen from outside of a property.

Officers believe the suspects broke into the property and took the car keys before fleeing in the vehicle.

The suspects then returned in an attempt to take a second vehicle from the address but were met by officers who detained them following a foot chase.

A 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

They remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Rick Arthern, of Oldham's Divisional crime team, said: "This was a great result by the Oldham response policing team, in detaining the suspects.

“We as a team are dedicated to bringing offenders to justice, making Oldham a safer place to live.”
