A suspected firearm has been seized in Finglas alongside items such as a silencer, ammunition and a loaded magazine.
Gardai searched a maintenance area of an apartment complex in Finglas following a tip off. They discovered the suspected sub machine gun, which was concealed within white plastic wrapping and black bin bags, on the site.
The search took place at roughly 1:10pm on Friday 25 November. Gardai also unearthed a small white bag which contained ten 9mm bullets, which was also seized for investigation.

An Garda Siochana said in a statement: “As a result of information received, Gardaí from Finglas conducted a search of a maintenance area at an apartment complex in Finglas at approximately 1:10pm. During the course of this search, a suspected sub-machine gun which had been wrapped in white plastic wrapping and then double bagged in black bin bags, was located and seized.”
The suspicious items will all be sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for further analysis as the investigation continues. No arrests have been made to date as a result of the search.
