A man has been charged with assault and possession of a weapon after an attack in Wirral.
Officers were called to Pasture Road, near Moreton train station, after reports a man was attacked with a weapon at around 8.30pm on Saturday, November 5. The victim suffered serious head injuries but police confirmed he remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A cordon was put in place after the assault and forensic enquiries took place. Merseyside police confirm they have now charged John Leach with Section 18 wounding - Grievous bodily harm with intent; possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The 34-year-old, of Magazine Road, Bromborough, will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court this morning. A spokesperson said: "Detectives have charged a man following an assault in Moreton on Saturday night, 5 November.
"At around 8.35pm, officers were called to Pasture Road near to Moreton railway station to reports of a man being assaulted with a weapon, causing a head injury. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. John Leach, 34, of Magazine Road, Bromborough has been charged with Section 18 wounding - GBH with intent; possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
