During Monday’s hearing in federal court in Florida, the suspect behind the apparent assassination attempt, answered the judge’s questions with nods and “yes judge” responses. The judge found the suspect couldn’t afford his own attorney after he said he had “zero funds” in savings. Prior to his arrest, the suspect was making $3,000 a month and claimed to have no assets beyond two trucks in Hawaii.
Prosecutor Adam McMichael stated that they would be seeking pre-trial detention for the suspect, citing concerns of flight risk and danger to the community. Authorities suspect that the suspect, who owns a small construction company in Hawaii, was planning to attack the former president while he was playing golf on Sunday.
