Susanna Reid joined Kate Garraway on the red carpet for the Pride of Britain Awards after she cut her holiday short to cover the news in Parliament.
The Good Morning Britain presenter ditched her half-term plans to set up camp in Downing Street after it was announced that Rishi Sunak is the new Prime Minister.
“I'm supposed to be on half-term. Then tomorrow morning I'll be back in Downing Street. When news breaks that's where you want to be as a journalist. There's no leave for the wicked at the moment,” she told The Mirror.
Sharing her thoughts on the new PM, she said: “There's people calling for a general election. Who knows what will happen.
"We didn't realise we were about to have our shortest serving Prime Minister in history when we saw Liz truss go into Downing Street so us as journalists are going 'I'm not predicting what's going to happen next week let alone next month’.”
The mum-of-three was asked what her stand would be on her former colleague Piers Morgan running for Prime Minister.
"I think Piers is kind of distracted by the fact his initials are PM. 'PM for PM' works doesn't it? But I'm not sure he'd work as Prime Minister," she laughed.
Susanna looked incredible in an emerald green satin gown that had a silver lining down the waist.
The elegant dress had a sach detail that draped over one shoulder.
Speaking about the Pride of Britain awards, she said: "It is the most emotional, heart-bursting night of the year.”
"You spend hours getting ready and know that within moments your make-up will be completely destroyed because you'll be crying with a sense of achievement, the incredible sacrifice on stage, the things people have done, the most extraordinary peril people have been involved in and how they've overcome that."
Her co-star Kate Garraway joined her on the red carpet in a stunning burgundy and sequin gown.
The presenter sparkled in the long-sleeved dress, which featured a high neck with delicate leaf features.
Her appearance comes after she scooped second in the National Television Awards for Best Authored Documentary.
She fought back the tears as she accepted the award for the heartbreaking documentary about her husband Derek Draper.
