Susanna Reid made her feelings very clear as she shut down Andi Peters' suggestion about her getting a new Good Morning Britain co-host. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Thursday (November 10) alongside Ben Shephard.
The pair were also joined by Kate Garraway who was on hand to bring viewers the latest news headlines. But much of the conversation centred around Matt Hancock as the former health secretary made his jungle debut on Wednesday night (November 9) in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
The 44-year-old politician ruffled feathers as he entered the main camp alongside fellow latecomer, comedian Seann Walsh, after taking part in their first bushtucker trial, Beastly Burrows, in which they managed to secure six out of 11 stars. It didn't take long for Matt to get a grilling about his reasons for being on the show by Scarlette Douglas.
Later, viewers saw the West Suffolk MP, who has been suspended from the Tory party after signing up for the popular ITV reality show, being quizzed by ITV News broadcast and Loose Women star Charlene White who appeared frustrated at the answers to her questions.
Matt's addition to the line-up was discussed throughout today's GMB and there was telling moment between Susanna and Andi Peters who was hosting the competition on today's show after being replaced by Peter Andre earlier in the week.
As he appeared live from Bristol, the TV star wanted to get involved in the Matt chat and said: "Right, I'm just gonna rehearse something just in case he wins I'm A Celebrity..." Mimicking GMB's own announcer, the 52-year-old said: "This is Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid and Matt Hancock."
He then added: "Sadly it's got a ring to it," before warning: "Ben beware if he wins. But Susanna, 51, was visibly unimpressed by the prospect as she repeatedly pleaded "no" and added: "Ben is not going anywhere." Her co-host then added: "A shiver just went through the sofa, Andi. I felt that from Susanna," before she swiftly moved the conversation on.
Elsewhere, in the programme, Susanna said of Matt appearing on I'm A Celeb: "A lot of people are feeling conflicted about laughing along with Matt Hancock in I’m a Celeb. I think those who lost family or friends, or those who saw government ministers not following the rules during lockdown, will be thinking it is not right to try and rebuild your image through a light entertainment show."
To which Kate, who has openly shared her family's plight due to coronavirus, then said: "When you are in there you are so far out of your comfort zone, and you don’t want to prejudge people. We are seeing him laughing and being himself, and that feels uncomfortable when there is still so much unanswered. Seeing him there with all the investigations going on is uncomfortable."
