Susanna Reid looks gorgeous in make-up-free selfie as viewers cast verdict on ITV Good Morning Britain return

Susanna Reid finally made her presenting return to Good Morning Britain on Monday (September 5) following her long summer break. The presenter actually made an early appearance on the programme on Friday (September 2) as she paid tribute to her former co-host Bill Turnbull following his death.

She appeared teary-eyed alongside Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard in the ITV studio to remember the former BBC Breakfast host following his death on August 31, aged 66, five years after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. "I was knocked sideways by the loss of Bill," she told Kate and Ben. "I don't want to sound sombre talking about him. He was delightful company."

Following her emotional appearance, Susanna returned to the hot seat for her first day back at work since July alongside co-host Martin Lewis. And there is a big change to the show. From today, the Money Saving Expert will join Susanna every Monday in September to offer viewers the most up-to-date information on the Cost of Living crisis.

Susanna, who was praised for her GMB interview with Boris Johnson earlier this year, particularly for her questioning on the cost-of-living crisis, said there is an open invitation for the next prime minister to appear on the show.

Opening Monday's show, Susanna welcomed viewers to the show before giving a run down of the main news headlines before Martin explained how he'll be on hand to help viewers with their questions surrounding the rising energy costs.

"It's very good to be back," Susanna later said. "And it's good to see you back by the way," she added as she turned to Martin. "It's nice to be back," he admitted before speaking about the momentous occasion of the day as the country's new leader is announced.

"What the country needs now more than anything else is an active government," Martin said. "And I hope that starts today." Susanna then joked how the weather felt like a metaphor after people across the country were woken by thunder and lightening in the early hours.

Returning to her co-host, Susanna said: "Not all heroes where capes, this one doesn't wear a tie," referring to the ongoing debate around Martin's TV attire. While he pulled a face at being called a 'hero', he did say, "That's true," to the tie decision.

Meanwhile, on Sunday night, Susanna took to Instagram to share a snap of herself relaxing at home before her early wake-up call today. The 51-year-old went make-up free for the snap as she shared her excitement at returning to the make-up chair the following morning.

"BRING ON THE GLAM!" she cheered. "Looking forward to being reunited with a full face of make up and @debbiedresses styling team in the morning. See you at 6am @gmb on the day the new PM is announced & Martin Lewis joins us for his Money Mondays."

Loose Women star and ITV News presenter Charlene White was among the first to comment, writing: "Gorgeous, intelligent, powerful. Good to have you back." And fans were also quick with their compliments.

@comeon89 said: "Looking gorgeous can't wait to see you back on gmb." @shaun.e74 replied: "Naturally beautiful as you are." @gordon_flash_street commented: "You don't need makeup." @ian.jess.14 wrote: "Beautiful as always." @vitesse1969 added: "This woman is an absolute stunner as she is."

And GMB viewers appeared pleased to have her back. @domain_harry tweeted: "I got up especially early today for Susanna's return!#gmb." @KaniaMcKalliah said: "@GMB #GMB Oh yay! @susannareid100 is back! My day has been made. Welcome back Susanna."
