Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle has taken to her social media in a heartfelt tribute to her "loyal friend" Paul O'Grady having only seen him last week before his heart breaking passing.
The Scots singer admitted she "never would have thought that this was goodbye," as she bumped into the iconic TV star in Edinburgh just a few days ago.
Susan, 61, wrote on Facebook: "Paul, you were one in a million, kind, funny, and a loyal friend.
When I saw you last week in Edinburgh, never would I have thought that this was goodbye.
"Sending love to Andre & your family. I will miss you."
She accompanied the social media post with the snap of the two of them beaming into the camera as Paul clasped his arms around her, looking notably thin.
The I Dreamed a Dream singer also shared a throwback snap of the pair at a Save the Children event where they were both pictured smiling as they conducted an interview.
It comes as the tragic death was announced on Wednesday of Paul O'Grady's passing, as another legend leaves us behind.
Paul had admitted in previous interviews with The Mirror, "I'm like a broken toy - I'm f****d. I think I should really just be taken out and shot. It's fair to say I'm not at my best. I've had so many blood tests I've got the arms of a junkie. You wouldn't even recognise me."
It had been no secret the 67-year-old had suffered from ill health with heart disease running in in his family. He suffered his first heart attack in 2002, and had his second in 2006.
The dog-loving icon also previously opened up about his cigarette addiction which prompted him to live a healthier lifestyle, starting the day with a swim and taking long country walks near his home in Aldington.
Announcing the tragic news of Paul's death in a statement, husband Andre Portasio said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening. We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.
"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."
