In two recent Australia-wide surveys, it has been found out that a minimum of two-thirds of Australians have had COVID-19 since the pandemic outbreak in early 2020. This figure also includes children and adolescents.
The survey was carried out by two agencies - the national paediatric serosurvey, led by the Paediatric Active Enhanced Diseases Surveillance (PAEDS) network and the National Center for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS). The researchers tested two varieties of antibodies in the blood samples of children between the age of 0-19. As per agencies, the sample was collected between June and August 2022.
