Newcastle United are one step closer to the Carabao Cup final after a gritty 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary's. The Magpies squandered a host of chances on the night but only needed one as Joelinton found the net in the second-half.
The Brazilian had the ball in the net in the first-half, only to see the goal disallowed due to an apparent handball. VAR then saved the day for Newcastle in the second-half, ruling out Adam Armstrong's equaliser for the same reason.
Here are the moments you may have missed from the tense victory on the south coast.

Armstrong celebrates
When Adam Armstrong replaced Moussa Djenepo in the closing stages of the first-half, you felt he could come back to haunt his former club. Armstrong left Newcastle, his boyhood club, to join Blackburn a few years back and earned himself a move to St Mary's off the back of some fine Championship performances.
The forward thought he'd found the net against Newcastle in the second-half, just a matter of minutes after Joelinton's opener. However, VAR reviewed the goal and found the ball had hit Armstrong's hand before travelling into the net.
When Armstrong thought he'd levelled the tie, there was no muted celebration - and instead the former Magpies attacker celebrated with delight at the expense of his former club. A surprising move given how well-liked he was on Tyneside - Maybe it was the occasion and the importance of an equaliser?
Jones' mind games
Southampton boss Nathan Jones may have been trying to play a bit of mind games with Newcastle before the semi-final had even started on Tuesday evening.
During the warm-up, the Saints chief got defenders Lyanco, Mohamed Salisu and Duje Caleta-Car to take part in a passing drill, leading some to believe the trio were going to line-up alongside one another as part of a back three. That would have left Moussa Djenepo and Kyle Walker-Peters as the two full-backs in a back five.
Should Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall have been keeping a close eye on the Southampton warm-up, that may have been what they had taken away from the pre-match exercise.
However, Southampton went for a 4-2-3-1 formation with Salisu at full-back and Djenepo in attack. A sneaky smokescreen by Jones?
Shearer's appearance
Many people forget that Alan Shearer actually burst onto the scene on the south coast with Southampton almost 30 years ago. And the Newcastle legend was in attendance at St Mary's to watch his beloved Magpies beat their Premier League counterparts.
Shearer was spotted in the crowd during the clash, taking in the game alongside family members. His son Will, an avid Newcastle fan, was also there - and received some stick for his outfit choice!
Murphy's wave (A moment definitely not missed)
A moment that went viral almost instantly and definitely wasn't missed by many..... but let's just relive it one more time, ey?
