A SCOTTISH comedian has announced that his stand-up set will be shown on the BBC on Christmas Day.
Paul Black’s show Nostalgia, for which he was nominated for the inaugural Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow award, will be shown on BBC Scotland on Christmas Day.
The show will also be available on iPlayer from December 15, Black said.
Announcing the news on social media, the comic wrote: “Surprise! (to me also) my comedy special Nostalgia is OUT NOW on @bbciplayer AND it’ll be on @bbcscotland on Christmas Day.
“Big thanks to everyone who came along to any of these shows and @beezrstudios for doing such a good job filming it in Aberdeen! Enjoy x”
Black did the Nostalgia show in two performances at Glasgow’s King’s Theatre in March and April, 2023. They were headline sets for the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
He then took the show on a UK and Irish tour, playing dates in London, Manchester, and Dublin before a final night in Aberdeen on May 27.
Black has had a meteoric rise to fame over the last few years, which started with viral observational videos on platforms such as TikTok and Twitter (now known as X).
After writing his Christmas announcement on X, he added: “It pains me deeply to promote anything on this evil flop of a website I once called home.”
Late in 2022, Black announced he would be writing, directing, and starring in a Hogmanay comedy special on BBC Scotland.
He told The National at the time: "I'm really excited to be writing and directing for TV.
"Working on projects like this is always hard because you don't get the instant gratification like you do by posting a sketch online but it's always worth the effort.”
Black is also headlining a night with other comedians including Josie Long and Stephen Buchanan at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on December 16.
