Surge In Sexist Attacks On Women On Social Media

Nevada Convicts Top Child Porn Producer On Dark Web

An analysis conducted by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue has revealed a disturbing trend of sexist and abusive attacks on women proliferating across social media platforms since Donald Trump's reelection. One particularly alarming instance involved a post by White nationalist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, which garnered over 90 million views and 35 million reposts with the message, 'Your body, my choice. Forever.'

The phrase 'Your body, my choice' has seen a staggering 4,600% increase in mentions on social media platforms between Thursday and Friday, as reported by the ISD. Numerous women on TikTok have reported receiving comments containing this phrase, indicating a widespread dissemination of misogynistic rhetoric.

Notably, 'Nick Fuentes' and the phrase 'we own your body' have trended on various social media platforms, underscoring the concerning prevalence of such harmful messaging. This phrase appears to be a twisted version of 'my body, my choice,' a slogan historically used by women advocating for reproductive rights.

The surge in online harassment targeting women suggests that far-right extremists and trolls feel emboldened following the election, which many perceived as a referendum on women's reproductive rights. During the campaign, both President Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance faced criticism for their derogatory remarks about women, further fueling the toxic environment.

Many of the individuals perpetuating these attacks are associated with the 'manosphere,' described by the ISD as online communities characterized by varying degrees of misogyny, ranging from anti-feminism to explicit and violent rhetoric directed at women.
