A grieving brother urged anyone with information about the Belturbet bombing, which claimed the life of his sister 50 years ago, to “do the right thing” and come forward.
Geraldine O’Reilly, 15, and 16-year-old Patrick Stanley were killed on this day, December 28, in 1972 when a car bomb exploded outside Farrelly’s Bar and McGowan’s Drapery on the main street of Belturbet in Co Cavan.
Loyalist paramilitaries have been blamed for the attack in which eight people were also injured.
