Surat: In 15 hours, 250 cops knock on 700 doors to rescue missing toddler

SURAT: A missing two-year-old girl was reunited with her parents within a matter of 15 hours by Pandesara police which orchestrated a massive search operation comprising 250 personnel who knocked on 700 doors till they reached the right one from where they rescued the girl.

According to the police, the minor is a daughter of a 27-year-old daily wager who lives in Shastri Nagar in Pandesara with his wife and their minor girls aged five and two years respectively.

On Wednesday evening, while the parents were making dinner, the two children were playing outside. The mother went out to call them for dinner when she discovered the younger daughter missing and raised an alarm.

Despite searching in the neighbourhood when the parents and their friends could not locate the girl, they approached the police control room at around 10pm.

The entire police staff of Sachin and Sachin GIDC police station along with Pandesara police fanned out in 15 teams in search of the missing child. Cops put up 400 posters in different areas and also made announcements using the public announcement system.

One team collected CCTV footage while another team started scanning the 225 footage they could gather.

While scanning footage, cops saw the minor walking to the main road by herself before a couple took her with them. Cops immediately began the identification process and also started approaching houses in the area.

Police knocked on around 700 doors while one team reached the house where they found the couple with the girl.

During the investigation, the police came to know that the couple searched for her parents after they found the girl and then took her to their home while waiting for her parents to contact them. They gave her food and took care of her.

“We are investigating the couple’s role in the incident and only if they are found guilty during investigation action will be taken,” a police official said.
