The Supreme Court is gearing up to issue its final opinions of the current term, with two additional days added this week for decision announcements. The court will be handing down opinions on Thursday and Friday at 10 a.m. ET, coinciding with the first presidential debate of the cycle.
Typically wrapping up its term by the end of June, the Supreme Court currently has as many as 14 cases still pending. Among these cases are some of the most significant of the year, including the question of whether former President Donald Trump can claim immunity from criminal prosecution and whether Idaho can enforce its strict ban on abortions in cases where the health of the pregnant woman is at stake.
It remains uncertain whether the court will conclude its work this week or if the term will extend into the first week of July. The last time the term extended into July was during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
