Supermarkets are huge players in the run-up to Christmas. They’re there for all of our essentials, as we pile them high in the trolley and try to nab the last bag of sprouts before that other shopper.

But what happens if, as you’re stuffing the turkey in the fridge to defrost, you realise you forgot the pigs in blankets? Or you didn’t buy that one particular brand of mint sauce that your aunt likes?

Then you’ll need to know which supermarket will come to your rescue. Here are all the Christmas opening hours.

Below is a table of the major supermarkets and their Christmas opening hours. This is just a rough guide as specific stores may vary, so before heading out late on Christmas Eve, double-check their website to be on the safe side.

For smaller stores, such as Tesco Express of Sainsbury's Local, you may find that opening hours are totally different. These smaller stores, as well as local businesses, may also be open on Christmas Day.
