Supergirl fails to lift off in opening weekend in latest blow to DC Studios

Warner Bros. and DC Studios' latest superhero film, Supergirl, significantly underperformed at the box office during its opening weekend.
The movie debuted with a disappointing $38 million domestically and $68 million globally , falling short of its targeted $55 million in North American ticket sales.
Its opening figures were even lower than those of the critically panned 2022 superhero film Morbius, which earned $39.1 million in North America.
Supergirl, which has a $170 million budget, also received poor reviews, scoring 56 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.
The film faced strong competition from Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, which maintained the top spot with $70 million in its second weekend.
