Super flu cases are rising sharply in London, new figures revealed as health chiefs warned the NHS was facing a “worst-case scenario” with the doctors’ strike starting next week.

Latest figures showed there were on average 380 patients in London hospitals with flu in the week ending December 7, compared to 259 the previous week, a rise of 47 per cent.
