Supercars trigger parity review as Chevrolet dominates

With the new Gen 3 Chevrolet Camaro atop the podium at every race this year, Supercars officials have triggered a parity review.

Through five events and 15 races, the mid-point of the 2023 season, a Ford Mustang is yet to cross the line first.

Cam Waters officially has a race win in his Mustang due to the disqualification of Shane van Gisbergen in the Newcastle series opener, but the Ford's are still lagging behind since Gen 3 began this year.

Supercars say their review system is designed to identify and evaluate any imbalances among the competing models.

It uses analysis of lap times across a number of races to determine any existing disparity.

The threshold to trigger a review can be achieved over either five consecutive races or five of eight Championship races. These conditions were met following the final race in Darwin, Supercars said.

CEO Shane Howard says parity reviews and assessments have been a foundation throughout the championship for some time.

"Now that a review has been triggered, we have commenced the nominated process," he said.

"Supercars have met and are working with both Homologating Teams to formulate appropriate recommendations for a parity adjustment."
