Super2 driver Cam McLeod has survived a frightening crash in Perth, walking away in one piece after his Commodore rolled over in the air.

McLeod, who was in fifth place before the incident, was fending off rival Cooper Murray before the nose of Murray's car shunted McLeod on Sunday at Wanneroo Raceway.

The Ryan McLeod Racing driver, 19, pivoted off-track before a dip in the grass sent the car violently spinning in the air.

The race, part of a second-tier competition to the Supercars Championship, ended under the safety car while McLeod was escorted off-track with the medical team.

Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Zach Bates was declared the winner after results were backdated to lap 13, with McLeod awarded a third place finish.

A safety car was called at lap 9 when Mason Kelly's car caught fire following engine failure.

His car was also dripping oil, causing others to run off at the track.

The Kelly Racing driver was able to safely jump out of the vehicle after pulling off at a fire marshal post.

Supercars star Scott Pye suffered a crash similar to McLeod's incident at the same track in 2022.

Contact from current Erebus Motorsport driver Jack Le Brocq had blasted the then-Nulon Racing driver into the concrete pit wall.

Pye later confirmed he was unharmed following the collision.
