Super Micro Computer (SMCI) is entering a new chapter in its financial leadership as the AI server producer has appointed Mark Long as its new senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer, effective Oct. 15. Long, a former CFO and Chief Strategy Officer at Western Digital Corporation (WDC), replaces David Weigand after Supermicro spent nearly two years searching for a new finance chief amid heightened scrutiny of its accounting, governance, and internal controls.
The appointment comes at a critical time for Supermicro, which continues to benefit from strong demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure but is also working to rebuild investor confidence following a series of governance and export-control controversies.
