When they defeated the Detroit Lions a couple of weeks back, the Buffalo Bills took the top spot as the NFL team with the shortest odds to win the Super Bowl. They’re still among the favorites after Week 16’s action, but they’ve been leapfrogged by two different teams, at least for the time being.
Chiefs & Lions Tied For Shortest Super Bowl Odds
The Kansas City Chiefs entered the year with the best odds of taking home the Lombardi Trophy. And while they’ve maintained the best record in the league throughout, their status as the favorites hasn’t held the entire time.
Patrick Mahomes and company have not been their dominant selves so far in 2024. 10 of their 14 wins have been decided by one-score margins, including defeating the lowly Panthers and Raiders by a combined 5 points in back-to-back weeks. They’ve had some lucky breaks along the way, including a blocked field goal and a doink-and-in off of the uprights go in their favor.
At one point, they had dropped down to third on the Super Bowl odds board, but are back on top as we hit Christmastime. They are listed at +400, but aren’t alone in that designation.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions have been in control of their conferences for months.
As for the rest of the league, here’s where things stand with only two weeks remaining in the regular season ⤵️https://t.co/tviNO23GEe pic.twitter.com/OK78S0TMkk

Along with the Chiefs and Bills, the Lions have been floating around the top all season. They took the lead as the favorites for a handful of weeks in November and December, but fell back a bit due to their loss against Buffalo. But after their win against the Bears on Sunday, they’ve risen again, and now share that +400 designation with the Chiefs as the two co-favorites.
The Bills are slightly behind both, sitting at +500 as it stands today.
There are other teams in the mix, as well. The Philadelphia Eagles had a chance to keep pace with the Lions in the NFC, but lost in a heartbreaker against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, which also dinged their Super Bowl likelihood. They are 4th on the current odds board at +600, and the Baltimore Ravens round out the top-5 with a designation of +800.
The Minnesota Vikings (+1000) and Green Bay Packers (+1200) are the only two other teams with realistic odds.
