With the Super Bowl fast approaching, it’s time to start locking in some bets and getting ready to make back all that was lost during a rough regular season of betting (or was that just me?).
There are dozens of fun and equally unpredictable prop bets for the big game, but there’s nothing like the old reliables. Which is why I compiled lists of best bets for each of the traditional player props, just as I did for the conference championships.
Here’s a look at my picks for each running back prop between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, with odds from BetMGM.
Jerick McKinnon, Chiefs
O/U 22.5 rushing yards: Under (-120)
O/U 3.5 receptions: Under (-165)
O/U 22.5 receiving yards: Over (-115)
With all the injuries to KC’s receiving corps, I think McKinnon could recoup some of his usual targets in the passing game. But Isiah Pacheco’s recent emergence as a pass catcher likely keeps him just under four catches.
Isiah Pacheco, Chiefs
O/U 11.5 rushing attempts: Under (-110)
O/U 49.5 rushing yards: Over (-110)
O/U 15.5 receiving yards: Over (-110)
Anytime touchdown scorer: Yes (+140)
I’m expecting Patrick Mahomes to have the ball in his hands a lot. So even while seeing some success for Pacheco on the ground, I’ll go with the under on his rush attempts. He’s averaging exactly 11 attempts this postseason.
Kenneth Gainwell, Eagles
O/U 19.5 rushing yards: Over (-110)
O/U 1.5 receptions: Over (-160)
O/U 11.5 receiving yards: Over (-120)
Gainwell has been a nice alternative to Miles Sanders, eclipsing this rushing line in each of his last three games. He also has at least two targets in the passing game in five of his last six games.
Miles Sanders, Eagles
O/U 13.5 rushing attempts: Under (-135)
O/U 60.5 rushing yards: Under (-120)
O/U 1.5 receptions: Under (-185)
O/U 4.5 receiving yards: Over (-115)
I think Chris Jones and the Chiefs will make it a point to not let the Eagles beat them on the ground. They’ll leave it up to Jalen Hurts, and that means shutting down Sanders, who has at least 14 carries just once in his last four games.
Boston Scott, Eagles
O/U 7.5 rushing yards: Over (-120)
Anytime touchdown scorer: Yes (+400)
Scott only needs one or two carries to eclipse this rushing yards line. He’s a little more of a longshot to score a touchdown, but he has a score in three straight games and three of his last four.
