The Kansas City Chiefs became NFL champions for the second time in four years thanks to a thrilling 38-35 victory over Philadelphia Eagles.
A historic Super Bowl 57 was the first to feature two black quarterbacks, who are also the two best players in the country, in Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts.
The game in Arizona was also a clash of the best two teams in the country - the top seed from each conference - the first time that had happened since 2018 and produced the highest-scoring showpiece since the same game five years ago.
The Chiefs' offense struggled for much of the game and were 27-21 down heading into the final quarter, only for star quarterback Mahomes to inspire a win for the ages at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix.
Mahomes, named Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player having already been awarded the season MVP, appeared to at half-time re-injure the right ankle that had been such a concern for the Chiefs heading into the game.
But when the teams returned after the break a resilient Mahomes produced a heroic effort, tossing two fourth-quarter touchdowns and engineering a final drive to set up Harrison Butker's 27-yard game-winning field goal with eight seconds to play.
Mahomes, 27, is the first player since the turn of the millennium to win the season MVP, the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP in the same season.
