Wednesday is set to be bright and sunny, but cold and windy for the North East.
It should be an improvement on the miserable, wet Tuesday for the region which saw heavy rain in some parts. Sunny spells are likely throughout Wednesday morning and for most of the afternoon, though light showers are expected from around 3pm until 5pm.
Windy weather will continue into Thursday, while it's expected to remain dry for most of the day, though some rain is expected in the afternoon.

The Met Office said: "Brighter but colder and windy, with some sunny spells but also scattered blustery showers. These showers, most numerous in the west, bearing a risk of hail and thunder generally. Maximum temperature 8 °C."
