Sunderland will play Sheffield Wednersday in a two-legged play-off semi-final after the League One season drew to a close. The Black Cats beat Morecambe 1-0 to ensure they would finish in the top six, Nathan Broadhead's goal proving the winner.
The winners of that semi-final will face either MK Dons or Wycombe Wanders in the final at Wembley on May 21. The first game will take place on Friday, May 6, with the second leg on Monday, May 9.
Plymouth were the side to miss out on a decisive day in the League One table. They lost heavily to MK Dons to drop out of the top six, with both Wigan and Rotherham won to seal the automatic promotion places, so the Dons took third.
Sheffield Wednesday's win over Portsmouth meant they kept fourth place, with Sunderland in fifth and Wycombe, who beat Burton Albion, in sixth spot.
