Sunderland fans are in agreement that bringing former loanee Dion Sanderson back to the club would be a no brainer this summer. The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender became a fan favourite during his season-long loan with the club in 2020/21 and could be set for a move away from Molineux this summer.
Earlier this week reports suggested the defender could permanently transfer away from Bruno Lage's side this summer, as they attempt to recoup funds ahead of a summer rebuild. The Black Cats are one of the parties interested in signing Sanderson this summer, but would face competition from Championship rivals Sheffield United.
The Blades, like Sunderland, have been long-term admirers of Sanderson and saw an approach knocked back by Wolves in January. However, the 22-year-old now looks set to leave the Premier League club, either on a permanent transfer or another loan move.

The departures of Jordan Willis, Arbnit Xhemajli and loanee Callum Doyle means Sunderland have just two senior centre-backs at the club; Bailey Wright, who has been offered new terms, and Danny Batth who arrived in January. Red and white supporters are in unanimous agreement that the club should try to bring Sanderson back to Wearside.
Here's what fans had to say on social media:
@LiamShepard7 said: "I reckon today he's got to be worth £4million or £5million."
@killermill3r said: "Every day of the week and twice on Sundays."
@DochertyScott tweeted: "Absolutely. Let’s not forget our level and think we are above a signing like this. Brings with him championship experience now as well."
@Wearside2warwi 1: "Depends what they want for him, he was a class above in league one but it's been a bit stop start for him in the Championship. I think anything under £1/1.5m & he'd be a sound investment but upwards of that and I'd probably look elsewhere tbh."
