Sunderland's home game against Norwich City moved for live TV broadcast

Sunderland's clash with Alex Neil's former club Norwich City on Wearside next month has been picked for live TV broadcast - with kick-off brought forward as a result. The Black Cats were due to face the Canaries at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, August 27, with kick-off at 3pm.

But the game has now been selected for broadcast by Sky Sports and, while the date remains unchanged, the match will now kick-off at the earlier time of 12.30pm. The game will see two teams arriving into the Championship in very different circumstances go head-to-head.

Under Neil, Sunderland won promotion from League One last season via the play-offs, while Norwich finished bottom of the Premier League and were relegated by the end of April. But the game also pits Neil's current side against one of his former clubs, with the Scot having won promotion to the top flight with Norwich - again through the play-offs - back in 2015.

This is the third Sunderland game picked for live broadcast in the first month of the season, with the Black Cats' return to the Championship televised on the opening weekend when they meet Coventry City at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, July 31, while their Carabao Cup first round match against League One Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough will also be shown live by Sky Sports on Wednesday, August 10.
