Sunderland's Carabao Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday has been selected for live broadcast on Sky Sports - with the game put back 24 hours as a result. Alex Neil's Black Cats take on Darren Moore's Owls at Hillsborough in the first round tie in early August.
The game had been due to be played on Tuesday, August 9, but will now be played on Wednesday, August 10, with kick-off at 7.45pm. For Sunderland, the midweek cup tie is sandwiched between the Black Cats' first away trip of the Championship campaign at Bristol City on Saturday, August 6, and the game against QPR at the Stadium of Light on August 13.
The Carabao Cup meetinge comes just three months after the sides went head-to-head in the League One play-off semi-final, with Sunderland winning on aggregate to reach Wembley and then defeating Wycombe in the final to secure promotion to the Championship. The sides last met in this competition in August 2018, also at the first round stage, and on that occasion Wednesday won 2-0 at the Stadium of Light.
